Bold, Bright, and Boundless: Hawai‘i Girls Youth Impact Program Graduation 2025
As 75 girls graduated from our 4th annual Girls Youth Impact Program in Hawai‘i, it was impossible not to pause and reflect on the powerful transformation that unfolded in just two weeks. From diving into core values with our military and Rainbow Wahine basketball mentors, to hearing from inspiring guest speakers who reminded them that passion and perseverance make anything possible, these young women experienced a journey packed with purpose. The excitement reached new heights—literally—on our STEM Launch Day, where their curiosity was ignited through hands-on rocket building and launching.
Graduation day was a celebration of both growth and achievement. The girls kicked off the event by showcasing their athletic development in a fast-paced, tournament-style basketball showcase, cheered on by friends, families, and their Rainbow Wahine mentors.
Following the showcase, Hawai‘i Program Director Ziggy Ramil opened the closing ceremony, welcoming a lineup of guest speakers. DOE educator Joe Lileikis applauded the girls’ academic gains, while LTC McCroan of the 94th AAMDC reflected on the incredible progress she witnessed firsthand as a volunteer—and honored the dedication of the soldiers who mentored throughout the program.
Founder Riki Ellison then shared a powerful story about his family’s ancient canoe journey from Hawai‘i to New Zealand, illustrating the values of teamwork, determination, and the courage to chase one’s dreams no matter the obstacles.
Military and basketball mentors presented awards recognizing standout achievements in leadership, STEM, teamwork, and more—celebrating the unique strengths each girl brought to the program.
To close the ceremony, Coach Laura Beeman delivered an energizing and heartfelt message. She honored the collective effort of parents, teachers, volunteers, and donors—and most importantly, encouraged the girls to believe in their boundless potential.
As the program concluded, the girls exchanged leis, signed each other’s jerseys, and held tightly to the memories, friendships, and confidence they’d gained. It was our most successful Hawai‘i Girls Youth Impact Program yet—and just the beginning for these bold, bright dreamers.
